Eden Project

The Eden Project is a dramatic global garden the size of thirty football pitches nestling like a lost world in an old china clay pit overlooking St Austell Bay. The world’s largest greenhouses are located a giant 50 metre deep crater which has become a dramatic setting in which to tell the fascinating story of man’s dependence upon plants. Three of the world's climate zones have been chosen for interpretation.

The Humid Tropics and the Warm Temperate regions are contained within the two giant greenhouses. The third climatic region represented, our own Temperate zone, thrives outside on the climatic advantages that Cornwall has to offer. A fabulous range of plants from the prairies of North America to Chile rub shoulders with the native flora of Cornwall, the Atlantic rainforests, and many of the more familiar crops that have shaped our lives.

Special Events During the summer holidays and around Christmas we open late on some evenings for details please check our website. Our rock concerts - The Eden Sessions take place each summer and 2007 will be their 5th year. Previous bands include Moby, Basement Jaxx, Keane and Brian Wilson. To ensure that there is always something new each time you visit we have introduced a series of seasonal themes. These include Bulb Mania, Jungle Season and our spectacularly successful winter festival ‘A Time of Gifts’ based around a huge covered Ice rink in front of the biomes.
